Hello again. I’ve gotten enough rest after that unfortunate event. I’ve written something after that incident, but I’m only able to post now. It’s currently eleven in the morning for me, so all’s good. I wrote this the night after. Mainly did this so I can remind myself not to be foolish ever again. Anyway…

So I decided to write what happened after my last reply. Just when I decided to call the police, my signal disappeared. I thought my phone was just acting up, but no, even after rebooting, the signal was still gone. I didn’t know this happened, because I was always asleep around this time. Now I know.

When 2 AM rolled by, I decided to walk up to the basement door to check if I’d hear any knock or call for my name. I didn’t dare look out of the window in fear of seeing more of that creature’s friends. Besides, all I could see was a blanket of ebony. Anyway, there was no knock, no voice. Just this eerie silence that enveloped my house. I contemplated leaving the basement, since I thought the lights being on was acting as a deterrent. But just to be sure, I decided to peek through the small gap between the door and the floor.

Big mistake.

As I crouched on the floor, my gaze was met by not one, not two, but three pairs of those hideous eyes. Yes, pairs. They were outside, possibly hanging upside down, I don’t know. But they were there. They were fucking waiting for me.

I ran back down and hid under a box I found, in the corner farthest away from the entrance. I don’t think I’ve trembled this much before, but there I was, shaking as if cold water was just dumped over me. I fidgeted so much; my phone was almost always in danger of dropping onto the floor. I remember somebody once telling me, if you don’t let them in, they can’t harm you. I guess locking my doors and windows was the trick. It wasn’t the light. Who knows. I don’t know. All I know is I ended up passing out.

I got woken up by my phone’s notification sounds. I think this was nearing 6 AM. I pushed the box away as I hurriedly stood up. I was thinking, if my signal was back, then maybe things were back to normal? I walked cautiously toward the basement window, and there was light coming from it. I peered outside and saw the familiar houses, trees, lamp posts. Heck, I could see some people walking by. And then I saw it, my friend’s car slowly coming to a halt right by my place. I checked my phone. He had been trying to contact me for the past hours. I counted: 20 messages, six calls. One of the messages said he was going to be late cause of an emergency. So that’s why he’s only here now.

I only decided to move when I heard him knocking on my front door. It took me a while to open my basement door, knowing that earlier I saw eyes just outside of it. But when my friend’s knocking intensified, I just took a deep breath and swung the wooden thing open—and thank goodness, there was nothing waiting for me anymore.

I ran to my front door and let my friend in. He was asking me what happened, why I wasn’t responding, but I asked him to hold the questions for now and just accompany me upstairs. I think he noticed how scared I sounded because he just silently agreed.

My bedroom door was ajar when we reached it. Upon entering my room, I did a quick scan to check if anything had been misplaced. There was none. It was the same way it was, right before I knocked out. I heard my friend say he’d wait for me downstairs, before walking away. I’m pretty sure I heard him say ‘this is weird’ right as he disappeared. I let out a breath. I thought for a moment that I was just too tired, that I was just hallucinating this time. But as I turned to leave my room, only then did I notice it. On my pillow were long strands of black hair. I hurriedly grabbed my pillow, rushed to the bathroom and dumped the strands in the toilet. I stood there, watching the strands get flushed away. No, I wasn’t hallucinating. Those things were real.

I eventually joined my friend downstairs and told him as much as I could, explaining to him everything right from the beginning. I don’t know if he believes me, but it doesn’t matter. After he left, I locked all the doors and windows, before I passed out on my sofa.

It’s already way past ten in the evening for me. I’ve done a quick check of my windows and yes, the darkness outside is back. Except this time, I think I’ve spotted a pair of those horrendous eyes through a kitchen window. I didn’t dare look again. Anyway, I’ve decided to set a daily reminder on my phone, just so I don’t repeat this blunder. I got lucky this time; I don’t know if I’ll be lucky again the next.
